Nasal Endoscopy
What is Nasal Endoscopy?
A Nasal Endoscopy is performed by passing a small flexible light through the nose to look at the sinuses for any sinus infection. This is best performed after you have had a complete course of antibiotics to try to find any remaining infection. If infection is found your doctor will most likely continue your course of antibiotics for 2-3 more weeks. The procedure takes about 5 minutes to perform and patients are given a local anesthesia with a spray of 10% lidocaine. Patients with no history of high blood pressure will also receive Afrin to help decrease swelling in the nose that may make passing the nasal endoscope more difficult. Greater than 95% of the patients tolerate the procedure without any difficulty. Your doctor will be able to provide you with more information about Nasal Endoscopy.
